Get Paid to Cancel Your Insurance

Updated: Jun 2, 2022

A pro tip that most people don't know about

Did you know that you can get paid to cancel your insurance?

Well….kind of.

This is called a “Pro Rata Refund”. You typically purchase insurance for the future in intervals of 1 month, 6 months, or 12 months at a time.

Let’s say you find better insurance, and you would like to switch. When that happens, you don’t need to wait until the policy is over. You can cancel your current insurance just by giving your agent a call at any time.

or an email if you have phone anxiety; I'm looking at you Gen Z.

The agency will give you your money back for the days you paid for, but didn’t use. For example, If your policy started January 1st and was paid in full, then you cancel the policy March 15th, the agency will send you back your money for March 16th-Dec 31st.

It’s that easy.

Now PLEASE don’t cancel coverage until you find another policy AND it is in effect. Double, and then triple, check that you aren’t left without insurance. It does happen, and it’s not fun for anyone.

Most people don’t look for better insurance because their policy isn’t up for renewal anytime soon. In reality, you don’t need to wait to look for better insurance. You can be better that most people.

So, what's your excuse?
